If you like a bit of David vs Goliath action, then you’ll love what the knuckleheads from Mako are taking on this weekend. It’s an all-hands-on-deck, knock-down-drag ’em-out brouhaha as Mako line up against an all-Sydney field in Premier racing on Sunday.
“We are taking everybody and are so proud to be fielding Women’s, Open’s and two Mixed crews in the Premier division,” said a wild-eyed Mako President, Simon Katz from his Milton compound. “The crew is primed and ready to unleash on Sunday and it’s always a proud moment when Mako lines up with the best of the best in the Sydney clubs.”
The Club Jervis Bay sponsored Mako has been hard at it over the past months balancing the challenging moods of Jervis Bay, hammering tides, fishing comps and random southerly busters.
“The crews are getting tighter as our fitness and technique work is really beginning to pay dividends,” said Mako Coach Chicki, “We love racing at States as its single distance in 500m and 20’s boats only. Dragon Boat racing is all about racing in 20’s and we will always jump at the chance to race 20’s over 10’s whenever we can.”
Racing kicks off on Sunday morning at the Sydney International Regatta Centre, Penrith.
