headspace Nowra joined Mako today for a brilliant session of dragon boating in the sun on Jervis Bay. The Headspace gang rocked the paddling and kicked some serious butt in the racing.
“We are in awe of headspace, a National initiative that supports young people with mental health, physical health (including sexual health), alcohol and other drug services. We had an extraordinary group of young adults join us for a paddle today and they were incredible. ” Said event organiser Janine Molyneux
The Mako Headspace initiative was bought to life courtesy of a Community Wellbeing Grant from Shoalhaven City Council.
“We count ourselves fortunate to be able to play a part in the local community by sharing dragon boating with the folks from headspace,” said an exhausted and sausage-filled Mako President Simon Katz, “We are looking forward to hosting headspace again. They bought incredible energy, commitment and dare I say it, attitude when it came time to do some racing, which they absolutely nailed.”
About headspace
headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation. We began in 2006, and ever since we’ve provided early intervention mental health services to 12-25-year-olds.
Each year, we help thousands of young people, and their family and friends, access vital support through our headspace services in over 145 communities[1] across Australia, our online and phone counselling services, our vocational services, and our presence in schools.
We support young people with mental health, physical health (including sexual health), alcohol and other drug services, as well as work and study support. With a focus on early intervention, we work with young people to provide support at a crucial time in their lives – to help get them back on track and strengthen their ability to manage their mental health in the future.
