In a ground-breaking first, Mako Paddle Club took to week 1 of lockdown with the launch of the much-coveted Mako Lockdown Program.
Releasing a new Mako Lockdown Workout every day, the club took the bit between its teeth and have been working super hard in the water, on the bike paths, at outdoor gyms and pounding the pavement.
Collectively, the club has run 180kms, walked 150kms, paddled a whopping 120kms, done 475 push-ups, 15 mins of plank, sit-ups, glute bridges, iron lifting and hours of rowing erg. Mako members have collapsed exhausted, but happy, at the end of the week knowing they are going to end lockdown fitter and stronger than when they started.
New committee member Fitness Coach Ryan is reportedly thrilled at the results, overheard saying he has ‘never seen a club of buffoons so absolutley ready to embrace anything for the good of the team’. Captain Angie was a little more circumspect, saying ‘great job Ryan, but my butt has never been so sore, I can’t get off the toilet’.
With members of the public contacting Mako this week wanting to be a part of it, it appears Jervis Bay community get what we are doing and is keen for some of the on, and off-water Mako action this season.
