The Mako family gathered at our cherished Club Jervis Bay headquarters to bid farewell to our season 2023 committee and roll in a few fresh faces (albeit with a lot of hard intergalactic miles on the clock)for the 2024 season.
The Presidential Run-Down
Hello Mako!
As you are aware, we held our 23/24 AGM today. Thanks, #clubjervisbay, for hosting. Thanks to those who attended.
Our committee was re-elected largely unchanged, with a couple of key exceptions. Annie Nute, our secretary, decided not to stand again. She has bigger fish to fry. Our new secretary? Angie Jenkins! Thanks, Annie, thanks, Ang! We’ve also had 2 “retirees” – Shane Ben and Gavin Phillip’s. Massive thanks, gents.
Plus big thank you in advance to our two new committee members, Alli Cash and Alasdair Stratton
One other significant update;
Mako has enjoyed enormous contributions from a lot of people. Much blood, sweat and tears. A lot of passion and pride. A lot of bloody hard work. However, without belittling or undervaluing anyone’s contribution, “they”, any of “us or them”, could have been replaced. If anyone had not have been available, had to leave or stand down, hadn’t been born, whatever, somebody else could have would have stood up. Taken on the challenge and delivered with equal enthusiasm and success. Mako would still have grown and thrived.
With the exception of one. Without that one person, Mako wouldn’t exist. Wouldn’t be what it is, and wouldn’t have bonded, grown and thrived. There might be a “club,” – but not a shadow of what we, Mako, are.
That person simply could not have been subbed out or replaced. That person is simply unique. That sentiment is unanimously (except by the recipient) endorsed by all members today. So. Without further ado
Please join me in congratulating Kristin Chick. Life Membership. The greatest honour we can bestow on an individual. Thanks, Chick.
