Mako’s first regatta of the season is done and dusted! We definitely blew the cobwebs out in Premier Mixed Standard, pulling our best time of the day and making it through to another heat and final – coming in 3rd overall! Pretty good going for a crew made up of a few Prems and plenty of Masters A, B and C.
Big thanks to Coach Ryan A. Brown, who coached Mako today and Southern Region yesterday — you certainly earned your stripes this weekend!

We had some exciting debuts on the drums — Belinda Fowler, giggling all the way to the start line, and Kristy Bourke both took on their first-ever drumming roles with Mako, fantastic job, ladies!
The wind had other ideas by the end, though; it picked up, and boats were blowing away during the ceremony, so the Women’s and Opens races were cancelled. We still got a sweet downwind paddle — bringing the dragon boats home around the island.

Massive congrats to Charlie on earning her 24U Captain’s Plaque for the 2025 Auroras Campaign. Such a fantastic achievement and a proud moment for the team.
And of course, a shout-out to our adorable mascots and four-legged cheer squad — Becky, Yoda, and Olive 🐾 soaking up all the pats, vibes and snacks. Bring on the Masters Games in Canberra next week! We’ll miss our Prems guns (Kristy, Charlie, Jack and Liv) who bring the power and energy to every race, but we’ll make you proud — go Mako!
