Club Jervis Bay, the best little Club in the Shoalhaven, and Mako Paddle Club, today announced a new sponsorship deal that will see Club Jervis Bay purchase a new dragon boat to support Mako’s increasing profile in the Jervis Bay community.
Now in its second year, the support of Club Jervis Bay has enabled Mako to introduce dragon boat racing to a new generation of Jervis Bay locals, and it continues to build a positive culture based on inclusion, fitness and a commitment to support each other and our local community.
“Club Jervis Bay is proud to continue to support Mako Paddle Club with the new boat purchase,” said CEO John West. “The Club Jervis Bay values of inclusivity, resilience, and forward-thinking are closely aligned with the way Mako has established dragon boating in the community, and we look forward to a long and successful relationship.”
Season 22/23 represents the second year of Mako sponsorship by Club Jervis Bay. It is this support that enabled Mako to grow to over fifty members who competed at their first AUSDBF National Championships in April. The new dragon boat will enable Mako to offer new and current members a better and safer training and racing experience.
“I’m lost for words to express how appreciative we are for the support provided by Club Jervis Bay,” said Mako President Simon Katz. “Our relationship with Club Jervis Bay is a natural fit given that both clubs have a people-first culture that values connection and community. It will be a proud day for us to launch our new Club Jervis Bay branded boat and paddle past the Club and out onto the beautiful waters of Jervis Bay.” Katz said, now appearing to warm to the task of giving statements to the press…
Mako has kicked off their 22/23 campaign, which will culminate in the AUSDBF National Championship next April in Albury-Wodonga. “This is the perfect time for new paddlers to come for a paddle and experience Jervis Bay and the amazing and rewarding sport of dragon boat racing. New paddlers can come along to a session on Sunday mornings; everything is provided; you just need gear you won’t mind getting wet, a water bottle, and your dragon boat career is underway.” Said a now animated President Katz, who by all reports spoke of things dragon boat and many things completely unrelated late, late, late into the night. But that’s another story……
