Mako is in celebration this afternoon with the announcement of Chicki as the Senior B Australian Coach for 15th IDBF World Nations Dragon Boat Racing Championships in Pattaya, Thailand.
In a statement that pretty much sums up Chicki’s coaching philosophy, she said, “My measure of success lies not only in the count of shiny medals but by the confidence and smiles on the faces of the athletes. Winning is great, but to do it by learning new skills, adapting to changing conditions, and mastering the physical, social, and psychological challenges necessary to perform at an elite level, now that’s the win. To do it with new friends and old, and to take those skills back to club and state, means the development and deepening of our sport, and that’s my aim.”
Chicki brings a wealth of experience to the 2023 Auroras campaign, having paddled in three previous Auroras campaigns including being a foundation Auroras member in Wujin, China.
The Australian Senior B team are in for an adventure with Chicki declaring, “I bring unlimited energy enthusiasm and non-negotiable standards when it comes to technique and attitude. The team know that I will ask a lot of them, and drive them hard, but that I am the one person who believes, 100%, unbendingly, unerringly, in their success and will not stop until I help them reach it.”
Look out Thailand, Chicki and the Australian Senior B are going to be ready to rumble!
