20% of Mako Members Selected to Trial for World Championships

Mako has taken a giant leap forward in just its 3rd year, with 10 members selected to trial for the 16th World Dragon Boat Championships, to be held in Pattaya, Thailand, from 7 – 13 August 2023. This comes off the back of Chicki’s appointment as Senior B coach announced earlier in December.

“For a team that only attended its first Nationals in 2022, this is an incredible showing from a small regional club.” said an excited Coach Chicki. “I am so excited to think that our members have come so far in such a short time, and they are now ready to take the next step.”

“As a first-year paddler, I am blown away by the opportunity to trial and hopefully win a seat in the Auroras World Champs squad.” said an overwhelmed Andrew Glasson from Las Vegas, where he is currently performing with the Chippendales.
